Ethel Stilwell Hastings

Mrs. Ethel Stilwell Hastings, 87, died Friday Jan. 21, 2011, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Born on April 7, 1923, in Mecklenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Jones Stilwell and Hazel Cornelius Stilwell. She was employed with Lance Packing Company for 41 years; was a member of Statesville Road Baptist Church, loved all outdoor activities and was a "true tomboy."

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsey Hastings; brothers, George, Jack, Tom, Henry and Bob Stilwell; and a sister, Margaret Christenbury. She is survived by her brother, Richard Stilwell, of Huntersville; sisters, Charlotte Mills and husband, Hebron, Mary S. Morrison, and Dorothy Cockrell, all of Mooresville; numerous nephews and nieces and her beloved canine companion, "Lucky."

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Raymer Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
