Martha Robinson Hastings, 75, of Apex, NC, died January 23, 2011, after a battle with cancer. She was born March 26, 1935, in Lumberton, NC, to Martha Goodwin Robinson and Bertice Deleon Robinson. She was a graduate of Washington and Lee High School in Arlington, VA and the Washington School for Secretaries in Washington, DC. She was a nationally recognized artisan, designer and instructor in miniature and doll house furniture, and for many years owned and operated a doll house shop, Miscellaneous, Inc., in Charlotte, NC.
Martha is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bobby Hastings of Apex; brother Brad Robinson of Merriman, NC; sons Phil Hastings and his partner, Ron Tickerhoff of Arlington, VA, Peter Hastings of Charlotte, and Jeffrey and his wife, Lesleigh Hastings of Apex; grandchildren Lonnie II, Johanna and Alec Hastings of Charlotte, and Tommy and Ashleigh Hastings of Apex; Aunt Iris Goodwin of Roseboro, NC, and numerous cousins.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent and professional services provided by Dr. Charles Eisenbeis and the entire staff of the Cancer Centers of North Carolina, Cary.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 27, 2011at Apex Funeral Home. A memorial service will be scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, January 28, 2011 at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Rd, Charlotte.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Interact of Wake County (a program for battered women), www.interactofwake.org; the American Cancer Society , www.cancer.org or to the charity of your choice.
