Harry Maurice Pollock

Pollock, H. Maurice On Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2007, H. Maurice Pollock departed his earthly existence to join his Heavenly Father. His life exemplified the Christian principles that permeated all areas of his life. Harry Maurice Pollock was born Nov. 3, 1914, to Ola Lewis and Harry Pollock in Corsicana. He was a 1932 graduate of Corsicana High School and attended Draughons Business School. Maurice lived his entire life in Corsicana.

His Christian service began as a Methodist and continued as a longtime member of First Baptist Church. At the time of his death he was a member of Petty’s Chapel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Maurice began his 66-year career at Collin Street Bakery as a teenager when he delivered bread with his father. Over the years he held various positions. He retired as senior vice president and treasurer in 1997.

As a young man, Maurice was considered to be one of the best fast pitch softball pitchers in the area. He also enjoyed fishing, playing golf, and being the “all time” quarterback for his grandchildren. Most of all, Maurice enjoyed family gatherings that usually included a family singing around the piano. Maurice was one of the kindest, most gentle human beings God put on this earth. He had upright standards, ethics, and was spiritually centered. Maurice also generously supported many community projects. Maurice was a member of the YMCA Century Club, Sons of Confederate Veterans, The Supreme Lodge of Knights of Pythias, Corsicana Chamber of Commerce and the Corsicana Country Club.
