Funeral service for Herman Lee Hastings Sr., 71, Hastings Road, Pierson, who died at home Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at First Baptist Church of Astor, with the Rev. Howard Cox officiating. Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, 126 E. New York Ave., DeLand. Mr. Hastings was born in Emporia, and was a lifetime resident. He was a commercial fisherman and a member of Moose Lodge in Astor Park. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Survivors include his son, Herman (Heather) Hastings Jr., Pierson; three sisters, Frances McGuire, Pierson, Mabel Robinson, DeLand, and Thelma Fulks, Pierson; and grandchildren, Ashton Burney and Lindsey Hastings. Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, DeLand, is in charge of arrangements.
