Larry died at the age of 82 on Friday, April 6, 2007 at home following an extended illness, surrounded by his loving family.He was the son of Fred and Lillian (White) Hastings. Larry was born in Mount Vernon on September 22, 1924. He attended Avon Grade School, then graduated from Mount Vernon High School in the class of 1942. He served his country during WWII with the 8th Air Force in England; flying in 30 missions over enemy territory. He was promoted Lead Navigator with the Rank of Captain. Larry and Henrietta "Nettie" Lloyd entered into marriage June of 1945. Following his military service, he owned the Avon Store; operating it for many years. Following his retirement from the Avon Store, he sold Real estate first with Johnson Realty (Elliott and Keith), then with Hill and Hill, then with Brown and McMillan in Burlington. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Larry built two houses, the family home in Avon, and the vacation house at Clear Lake. Larry is survived by his loving wife and partner of over 62 years, Nettie at the family home; beloved daughter, Frances DuBose and her husband Dan of Kenmore; beloved sons Fred Hastings and his wife Shari of Burlington, Ron Hastings and his wife Janet of Ashford, Rick Hastings of Snohomish; 7 grandchildren, Amber DeJesus of Lynnwood, Larry Hastings of Baview (Mount Vernon), Abby Hastings of Bellingham and their mother Diana Vinci. Dave DuBose of Seattle, Lynne DuBose of Atlanta Georgia, Molly & Emily Hastings of Ashford, and a great-granddaughter Nettie M. Hastings of Bayview (Mount Vernon). Larry was predeceased by his parents, and a brother Don Hastings. In gratitude to the wonderful care and support from Hospice, memorials may be sent in Larry's name to Skagit Hospice, 2031A Hospital Drive, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284. At Larry's request there will be no public services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Affordable Burial & Cremation Services, LLC of Mount Vernon, Washington 98273. Cards of Condolence may be sent to the family in care of the funeral home.

Do you know how Lawrence "Larry" was related to Henry C Hastings? Larry was my biological paternal grandfather. His son Fred (in the obituary) is my biological father.
