Nancy Hastings Conder

Funeral services for Mrs. Nannie Hastings Conder, aged 83 years, who died at her home Wednesday after a brief illness, were held Thursday, at 11:00 a.m., at the Beasley Funeral Home by Prof. R. K. Morgan, assisted by Eld. J. W. Sanders. She was the daughter of the late Joe and Mary Ann Hastings, and was born and reared near here. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She had been a widow twenty-seven years. Her husband, Johnny Conder, having passed away twenty-seven years ago. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Bud Tate, of Shelbyville; three sons, George Conder, of Shelbyville; Alva and Ross Conder, of Petersburg, and six grandchildren. Burial at Old Orchard Cemetery.

Thomas Hastings Greer, Sr.

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Graveside service for Thomas Hastings Greer, Sr. will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Grenada, Miss. with the Rev. Lynn Barker of All Saints Episcopal Church officiating. Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home of Pensacola and Garner Harper Funeral Home of Grenada are in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Greer, 94, of Pensacola, died Saturday, August 25, 2007. Mr. Greer was born in Paris, Tenn., to Stanley Thomas and Anna Hastings Greer on July 27, 1913. He graduated from Bowling Green Business School and the Memphis School Of Law. He worked with The William A. Webster Pharmaceutical Co. of Memphis and was a partner in Southland Motor Co. of Macon, Miss. He was owner of the B. F. Goodrich Auto Store of Starkville, Miss.

He retired as an auditor from the Mississippi State Tax Commission. Tommy and Dot moved to Pensacola, Fla. in 1995.

Mr. Greer was active in The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville and served as Senior Warden, Junior Warden and Treasurer.

Survivors include a son, Thomas H. Greer, Jr. and his wife, Joy, of Meridian, Miss., daughters, Laura Bess Greer Clapp and her husband, Roger, of Florence, Miss. and Dorothy Greer Tampary and her husband Anthony “Bubba” of Pensacola; grandchildren Thomas H. Greer III, Laura Greer Holladay, Debbie Greer Tucker, Roger Clapp, Jr., Todd Clapp, Andrew Clapp, Benjamin Clapp, Anthony Tampary, Jr., and Mary Alex Tampary Dill and seventeen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy West Ellison Greer and his parents.

Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville or to a charity of choice.

His grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers, Thomas H. Greer III, Laura Greer Holladay, Debbie Greer Tucker, Roger Clapp, Jr., Todd Clapp, Andrew Clapp, Benjamin Clapp, Anthony Tampary, Jr., and Mary Alex Tampary Dill.
