KINGSTREE -- Kenneth Brown Hastings, 76, died Friday, July 1, 2011 in a Florence hospital after an illness.

Memorial services will be 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 5 in the Millwood United Methodist Church in Kingstree, SC. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the services at Millwood Community Center. Another memorial service will be held in North Carolina at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to Millwood United Methodist Church.

Lonnie Durham

Lonnie F. Durham, 73, died at his home, Mebane, Route 2, this morning at 6:40 o'clock following an illness of two years, with six weeks critical illness.

Mr. Durham was a prominent farmer in the community and had been a class leader in the Salem M.P. church for the past 40 years.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mollie Durham and one son, Carl T. Durham, both of the home place.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Salem M.P. church by Rev. T.J. Wittenhead, the pastor, assisted by Rev. H.L. Isley, and Rev. George ???. Burial will follow in the church cemetery by Rich & Thompson Funeral service.

Carl Daniel Parscale

Carl Daniel Parscale was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Bolivar, the son of Albert and Ruth (Thomas) Parscale. He died Feb. 10, 2011, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, at the age of 79 years and 17 days.

He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1950 to 1953, during the Korean Conflict. He became a sergeant in 1952.

He was married to Delah Barton Taylor in 1957, in Springfield, and to this union two children were born.

He married Rosa Satterfield on Nov. 21, 1961, and with this union he added her two sons, Claude and Terry, to their family.

He was saved as a young man and was baptized and joined the Green Mountain Church.

In his younger days he was a motorcyclist. He was a truck driver and a farmer. He enjoyed horses and working with his cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosa; his son, Carl Daniel Jr.; three half sisters; and two half brothers.

Survivors include his daughter, Carl Ann and husband, Ronnie Friend, Neosho; his two sons: Claude and wife, Stacy Satterfield, and Terry Satterfield, all of Buffalo; four grandchildren: Rebecca and husband, Andy Collins, Welch, Okla., Jacob Friend, Neosho, Ryan Satterfield, Springfield, and Jared Satterfield, Buffalo; one great-granddaughter, Naomi Collins, Welch, Okla.; one sister, Hazel Dull, Conway; one niece, Kathy Miller, Louisburg; one great-nephew, Brian Shockley; and one great-niece, Lori Vaughn, Conway. He will be sadly missed by family and many friends.

Services were 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Montgomery-Viets Chapel with the Rev. J.D. Little officiating. Music was "Amazing Grace," "Precious Memories" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain." Susan Potter was pianist. Burial was in Gann Cemetery under the direction of Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo.

Escorts were Rick Kueck, Jacob Friend, Ryan Satterfield, Jared Satterfield, Deryle Potter and Roger Bradley.

Franklin Alpheos Clampitt

Franklin A. Clampitt, 84, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2011, after a short illness. He was born on February 14, 1927, in Beaumont, TX. He graduated from Beaumont High School and following his military service, Frank completed a degree in chemistry at Lamar University. He was a retired lab supervisor from Texas Gulf Sulphur with 28 years of service.

Preceding him in death are his parents; Robert C. and Hattie B. Clampitt and one brother, R. Moody Clampitt. He is survived by one niece, Diane (Jeffrey) Moss of Belle, WV, and three nephews, Robby (Mary Ann) Clampitt of Nederland, Wayne (Gerry) Clampitt of Dripping Springs and Charlie (Kim) Clampitt of Tomball and special friends, Gary and Nancy Robbins of Beaumont.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m., at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Dana Caldwell Campbell

Mr. Dana Caldwell Campbell, 57, of 1102 Center Church Road in Eden passed away on Friday morning, January 22, 2010 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

A service of remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2010 at Boone-Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Campbell was born in Danville, Va., on July 19, 1952, a son of Gladys Caldwell Campbell and the late Thomas Swanson Campbell. He was a certified welder.

He is survived by his daughter, Theresa Robertson of Eden; his mother Gladys C. Campbell of Eden; his sisters, Linda C. Allen of Wrightsville Beach, and Tammy Howell of Critz, Va; his brother, Devon Campbell of Oklahoma; and his beloved dog, “Pooter”.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Grubbs Campbell, his daughter, Carrie Marie Campbell and his brother, Joel Thomas Campbell.

The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Joel Thomas Campbell, Sr.

Joel Thomas Campbell Sr., 49, of 1071 Grogan Road died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1993, at Morehead Memorial Hospital, Eden.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fair Funeral Home, Eden.

A native of Leaksville, he was a blacksmith. He was a member of EAA, experimental Aircraft Assoc., Pace Airfield Chapter, the Dan River Masonic Lodge 129, Scottish Rite and the York Rite Degrees.

Surviving are wife, Ann Minter Campbell of the home; daughter, Rolla C. Brown of Burlington; son, Joel Campbell Jr. of Stoneville; grandchildren, Brittany Ann Campbell and James Thomas Campbell both of Stoneville; mother, Gladys C. Campbell of Eden; brothers, Dana Campbell of Eden, Devon Campbell of Stedman; sisters, Tammy Hinchee of Horsepasture, Va., Linda C. Allen of Wrightsville Beach.

Thomas Swanson Campbell

Thomas Swanson Campbell, 75, of 1104 Center Church Road died Feb. 23, 1993, at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Fayetteville.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fair Funeral Home. Burial will be in Overlook Cemetery.

A native of Leaksville, he had been employed by R.P. Thomas Trucking, Martinsville, Va. He was a member of Masonic 136, 32 Degree, Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the Amaranth, and the American Legion.

Surviving are wife, Gladys Caldwell Campbell; daughter, Linda Allen of Wrightsville Beach, Tammy Campbell of Ridgeway, Va.; sons, Joe Campbell of Stoneville, Dana Campbell of Cleveland, Ohio, Devon Campbell of Stedman; and seven grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7-9 tonight.

William Odell Robbins

Mr. William Odell Robbins, 86, of 4307 Highway 105, Banner Elk, N.C., a former resident of Mebane, N.C., died Tuesday morning, Dec. 3, 2002, at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville, N.C. He was born April 16, 1916 in Watauga County to the late Walter and Fannie Robbins.

Mr. Robbins was a retired employee of Forrest & Forrest in Efland, N.C. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church in Mebane.

He was past trustee of the church, past member of the Cemetery Committee and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lena McLean Robbins; one daughter, Mrs. Kathryne Gilliland of Mebane, N.C.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Sandy Bromberg of Charlotte, N.C. and Mrs. Sue Creekmuir of Mebane, N.C.; one brother, Mr. Monroe Robbins of Haw River, N.C.; five stepsons, Buck McLean, Bobby McLean and Bruce McLean, all of Banner Elk, and Carlos McLean of Gastonia, N.C., and Mr. Pete McLean of North Wilkesboro, N.C. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Fannie Robbins; his first wife, Mrs. Mildred Sykes Robbins; two brothers, Bill Robbins and Everette Robbins.

Services will be conducted Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Hebron United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Holliday, Rev. Gayle Alexander, and the Rev. Lance Hostetter, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane, N.C. At other times, friends may call at the home of the daughter, Mrs. Kathryne Gilliland, 119 Holly Ridge Lane, Mebane, N.C.

Pattie Mae Latta Highfill

Black Mountain - Pattie Mae Latta Highfill, 97, of Highland Farms passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the Healthcare Center.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Tate Latta, Sr. and the last survivor of their twelve children. A native to the Schley community near Hillsborough, North Carolina, she was a member of the Black Mountain Presbyterian Church and had made her home in Black Mountain since 1997.

Mrs. Highfill is survived by her husband of 69 years, U. Odell Highfill and their daughter Patricia Tuttle and son in law Robert Tuttle of Black Mountain; grandson The Rev. Christopher Stephen Tuttle of Greensboro, NC, wife Carrie and their daughter Ella Brooks Tuttle; granddaughter Sarah Brooks Tuttle, of Phoenix, AZ, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Milton Arrowood Latta

Milton A. Latta, 93, was reunited in heaven with his loving wife, Georgia T. Latta, on Thursday, September 25, 2003.

He is now embracing all those who have gone on before him, his parents, Samuel T. and Pattie Woods Latta; sisters, Lula L. McKee, Sarah Latta, and Annie L. Walker; brothers, John, Sam, Harold, Edmund, Allan, David, Vance and Baxter. We can imagine him in heaven, shaking hands with all of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family, sister, Pat Highfill and husband, O'Dell of Black Mountain; two sisters-in-law, Mary Latta (Vance) of Burlington and Vitus Latta (Baxter) of Charlotte. He was a wonderful, loving father to Bill Latta (Barbara), Tate Latta (Libbi) and Patsy Latta Kelly (Steve).

Papa's grandchildren were the joy of his life, Jay Kelly (Hope), Dawn Sikes (Chet), Dudley Latta, Joey Latta (Amy), Dan Kelly (Keely), Misti Latta Satterfield (Trent), Dustin Latta, Brett Latta and David Latta. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Latta. His days were brighter when his great-grandchildren were near, Adam and Jordan Kelly, Kyle, Morgan and Erin Sikes, Kentcie and Noan Kelly, Christian, Asa and Kobe Latta, London, Keaton, Jettson, and Ellason Satterfield.

Elizabeth Louise Latta

Elizabeth Louise Latta (Lisa), 30, of Club Pond Road, Henderson, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on March 13, 2003.

Lisa was a native of Hillsborough, NC. She was a 1990 graduate of Orange High School. While living in Hillsborough, she attended Little River Presbyterian Church.

Lisa was employed as a CAN at Senior Citizen Center in Henderson. She was a loving, generous, and kind person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Georgia Latta, and grandfather Milton Dunnagan.

Surviving is her father William D. Latta, Sr.; her mother Barbara D. Latta; brothers Dudley Latta and David Latta of Hillsborough; grandmother Alice Dunnagan of Durham; and grandfather Milton Latta of Hillsborough.

John Mark Hastings

MOORESVILLE -- Mr. Hastings, age 53, died Tuesday July 27, 2004 at his residence.

He was born June 1, 1951 in Mooresville, son of the late Brady Monroe Hastings and Vera Virginia Hager Hastings. He was a sales associate at Wal-Mart.

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 30 in the Chapel of Raymer Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service.

Survivors are his wife, Ronda Galliher Hastings; sons, John Mark Hastings, Jr. and Benjamin McNeely Hastings, both of Mooresville; stepson, Nathan Wood, and stepdaughters, Whitney and Lacey Wood, all of Statesville; and sister, Barbara Hastings Coggins of Mooresville.

Thomas Russell Stagner

Mr. Thomas Russell Stagner, 85, of Pulaski died April 2, 2001, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.

Mr. Stagner was born in Big Sandy, Tenn., and was the son of the late Robert Stagner and Cora Clementine Hastings. He was a retired pharmaceutical salesman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 6 at Bennett-May Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Baldwin and Randy Dunnavant officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore, Ala.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Stagner of Pulaski; two sons, Thomas R. Stagner of Pulaski and Joseph David Stagner of Ardmore, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Annie Claire Weddington

Mrs. Annie Claire Weddington, 74, died Friday, July 11, in Taylor Hospital, Lewisburg.

Services for Mrs. Weddington, wife of Andy Weddington, were held Sunday afternoon, July 13 at two o’clock in the chapel of Bennett-May Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rudolph Janes officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery.

A native of Giles County, Mrs. Weddington was born July 11, 1895, the daughter of the late Thomas R. Hastings and Ida Hicks Hastings.

Survivors in addition to her husband include, three sisters, Mrs. Velma Kellum, Pulaski, Mrs. Glenn Hale and Mrs. Bertie Garrett, both of Detroit, Mich.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Ruth Bagwell, Manassa, Colo.; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Giles Creed Thomas

Creed Thomas, 90, of Pasco, Washington, died Oct. 27, 2010. He was born on Nov. 6, 1919 east of Niangua to Henry and Annie Garner Thomas.

Creed attended Copening school and Mackey schools. He married Lorene Cooper in 1943 and moved to Washington state in 1944. Creed and Lorene settled in Pasco where they worked and raised their family.

He is survived by his wife Lorene; children, Larry Thomas, Linda Brake, and Sarah O’Donnell; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ava Brown, Pauline Easter, and Ruth Parscale, brothers Monroe, Herman, and Luke Thomas. Burial was in the Desert Lawn Memorial Park.

Robert Hastings Loyd

Mr. Robert Loyd, age 89 of Lewisburg, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2007 at NHC Lewisburg.

He was the son of the late William Loyd and Rhoda Hastings.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Loyd (2002) and a daughter, Mary Jane Loyd (1963).Survivors include his wife; Billye Bryant McConnelle of Lewisburg, one nephew, Billy Boy Lloyd of Murfreesboro and one great nephew, Michael Lloyd also of Murfreesboro.

Mr. Loyd owned and operated Loyd's Flower Shop for many years and was a former mayor of Lewisburg. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Veteran of the Army Air Force.

Funeral services for Mr. Loyd will be conducted on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 10:00 am from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home with Reverend Claude McMillion and Amos Wilson officiating.

Burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery with military honors.

The family will visit with friends on Monday, December 17, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Oressa Hastings Delaney

Oressa Hastings Delaney, 96, of Canyon died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Deckard, associate pastor of Polk Street United Methodist Church in Amarillo, and the Rev. John McClean, pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors.

Oressa Naomi Hastings Delaney was born April 25, 1913, in Clarendon to William Silas and Elizabeth Hunt Hastings. At the age of 5, her family moved to Canyon, where she lived until her marriage in 1938. She was a 1931 graduate of Canyon High School and graduated as valedictorian of her class. She graduated from West Texas State in Canyon in 1937 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She married Richard K. "Dick" Delaney on July 14, 1938, in Oklahoma City. Throughout her life, Oressa taught English and other subjects in several school districts in the Texas Panhandle, including Wilson School in Randall County, Booker, Hereford, Childress County schools, Estelline and Clarendon. At the time of her retirement in 1977, she had been the school librarian for Clarendon schools for several years. Oressa and Dick moved to Canyon in 1986.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Delaney derived great satisfaction from keeping in touch with her former students. The accomplishments and successes of her pupils and their continuing friendship was one of the great pleasures of her later life. She also enjoyed attending reunions at the various schools where she had taught during the years.

She was a lifelong Methodist and a member of First United Methodist Church in Canyon, where she was a member of the Murray and Crusaders Sunday school classes. Oressa taught Sunday school classes for many years in several of the communities where she and Dick lived. She was a lifetime member of United Methodist Women, a member of the 1926 Book Club in Clarendon and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a lifetime member of Texas Retired Teachers. As long as her health allowed her to actively participate, she volunteered at the IHS Care Center in Canyon, helping with the weekly worship service sponsored by United Methodist Church.

Several years ago, Oressa spent several months writing her personal memoir - a remembrance of her life that will be a treasured possession of generations that follow.

One of the major pleasures of Oressa's life was her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, in 1989.

Survivors include a son, Larry H. Delaney and wife Dee of Claude; a daughter, Rita Wynn and husband Larry D. of Canyon; four grandchildren, Janice Fagan and husband Randy of Broken Arrow, Okla., Janell "Jo" Deckard and husband Randy of Amarillo, Christi Wynn of Canyon and Chad Wynn and wife Crystal of Claude; six great-grandchildren, Steele Beatty of Oklahoma City, Briana Fagan of Broken Arrow, Ashley Wade and husband Jared of Norman, Okla., Megan Deckard of Amarillo and Tinsley Wynn and Aiden Wynn, both of Claude; a nephew, Jimmy Delaney and wife Ellen of West Allis, Wisc.; a niece, Bryna Schuerle of Fayette City, Pa.; and numerous cousins from the Hastings family.

The family suggests memorials be to Mission Fund or Church Library Fund, First United Methodist Church, 1818 Fourth Ave., Canyon, TX 79015.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel.

Polly Hubbard Lemond

Mrs. Lemond, 92, of Charlotte, NC died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice in Huntersville, NC. A Mecklenburg County native, Mrs. Lemond was born December 15, 1918, daughter of the late John Marshall Hubbard and Ida Katherine Dunlap Hubbard.

Mrs. Lemond graduated from Huntersville High School and attended King's Business College.

She was the former office manager for Asplundh Tree Company and retired after 18 years from the Mecklenburg County Clerk of Superior Courts' office. Mrs. Lemond was a former member of Gilead ARP Church and Calvary United Methodist Church. She volunteered with the hot lunch program at Strong's Apartments.

Mrs. Lemond was admired by her family for her strength of will, self-assurance, determination and integrity. She was an inspiration to those who knew her. She was fiercely devoted to her family and had a great faith in God. She loved gardening and time spent at Kure Beach.

In addition to her husbands, Thomas S. Hood and David W. Lemond, Mrs. Lemond was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister. She is survived by a daughter, Joan Hood Garrison; grandson, John Roddy Finley Jr.; three step-sons, George, Phillip and David Lemond; step-daughter, Harriet Costner, and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Hankins & Whittington Sunday afternoon, January 2, 2011, one hour prior to the funeral service in the chapel at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be in Sardis Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Monday, January 3, 2011.

Thomas Reid Hubbard

Mr. Thomas Reid Hubbard, "Pawtuck", 86, died Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. He was born in Mecklenburg County on August 27, 1924, to the late James Oscar Hubbard and Mary Louise Grier Hubbard. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Grier Hubbard and Robert Clay Hubbard; and a sister, Louise H. Sills.

Thomas graduated from Huntersville High School in 1941 and served in the Army Air Corps. of the United States in WWII. He was in the 33rd Air Depot Group and was stationed in France and England during the war. Following the war, he attended and graduated from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, South Carolina, on June 2, 1952, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He began his career at Bell Telephone Laboratories and was transferred to Burlington, N.C. In 1974, he completed his Masters of Science in Business Administration at UNCG in Greensboro, N.C. He retired from the Bell System, now Alcatel-Lucent, in 1987.

During Thomas's years living in Elon, he was a founder and active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Burlington, N.C. Upon moving to Conover, he was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frankie Herman Hubbard; a son, Thomas G. Hubbard of Maiden, NC; and two daughters, Laura, and husband, Cliff Boyce of Raleigh, and Jill, and husband, Scott Touchberry of Raleigh, N.C; five grandchildren, Christina Hoft of Versailles, KY, Paige Boyce, Abby Boyce, Nathaniel Touchberry, and Christopher Touchberry of Raleigh; two brothers, Joseph Todd Hubbard and his wife, Margaret, of Harrisburg, NC, and Benjamin Franklin Hubbard of Concord, NC.

A funeral service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. Pastor A. Mark Schudde and Vicar Tom Roma will be officiating. Laurel Marie Hulan Coleman

COLEMAN, Laurel Marie Hulan, 58, of Tullahoma, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at Harton Regional Medical Center. A native of Bedford County, she was a teacher at West Middle School and a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her father, William "Buddy" Hulan. She is survived by her husband, Haskel Coleman, Tullahoma; her parents, Roy M. and Janie Bartlette, Shelbyville, and two stepsons, Larry Coleman and Michael Coleman, both of Tullahoma. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Rev. Martin Nutter officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or Faith Lutheran Church. Elizabeth Owen Walls

Services for Elizabeth Owen Walls, 87, of Shelbyville who died Wednesday, Feb. 7 will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with Pastor Bryan Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Willow Mount Cemetery.

A native of Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late James Howard Hulan and Wilsie Hulan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry G. Walls; daughter Barbara Walls; and brothers James Ross Hulan and William E. Hulan.

She is survived by her daughter Carol (Guy) Spears of Laurinburg, North Carolina; sons Jim (Janice) Walls of Murfreesboro and Henry (Judy) Walls of Dade City, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was a member of First Christian Church.

Ethel Stilwell Hastings

Mrs. Ethel Stilwell Hastings, 87, died Friday Jan. 21, 2011, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Born on April 7, 1923, in Mecklenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Jones Stilwell and Hazel Cornelius Stilwell. She was employed with Lance Packing Company for 41 years; was a member of Statesville Road Baptist Church, loved all outdoor activities and was a "true tomboy."

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lindsey Hastings; brothers, George, Jack, Tom, Henry and Bob Stilwell; and a sister, Margaret Christenbury. She is survived by her brother, Richard Stilwell, of Huntersville; sisters, Charlotte Mills and husband, Hebron, Mary S. Morrison, and Dorothy Cockrell, all of Mooresville; numerous nephews and nieces and her beloved canine companion, "Lucky."

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Raymer Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.

Martha Robinson Hastings

Martha Robinson Hastings, 75, of Apex, NC, died January 23, 2011, after a battle with cancer. She was born March 26, 1935, in Lumberton, NC, to Martha Goodwin Robinson and Bertice Deleon Robinson. She was a graduate of Washington and Lee High School in Arlington, VA and the Washington School for Secretaries in Washington, DC. She was a nationally recognized artisan, designer and instructor in miniature and doll house furniture, and for many years owned and operated a doll house shop, Miscellaneous, Inc., in Charlotte, NC.

Martha is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bobby Hastings of Apex; brother Brad Robinson of Merriman, NC; sons Phil Hastings and his partner, Ron Tickerhoff of Arlington, VA, Peter Hastings of Charlotte, and Jeffrey and his wife, Lesleigh Hastings of Apex; grandchildren Lonnie II, Johanna and Alec Hastings of Charlotte, and Tommy and Ashleigh Hastings of Apex; Aunt Iris Goodwin of Roseboro, NC, and numerous cousins.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent and professional services provided by Dr. Charles Eisenbeis and the entire staff of the Cancer Centers of North Carolina, Cary.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 27, 2011at Apex Funeral Home. A memorial service will be scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, January 28, 2011 at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Rd, Charlotte.

Will M. Wiggins, Jr.

Will M. Wiggins Jr. of New Smyrna Beach died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at Halifax Medical Center.

Born in Charlotte, N.C., Mr. Wiggins came back to this area in 1979 from Huntersville, N.C., where he was a state corrections officer. Prior to that he had been a corrections officer and dispatcher for the New Smyrna Beach Police Department.

Mr. Wiggins was an Air Force veteran of World War II and attended the DeLand Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; three sons, Master Sergeant Lester W. Wiggins, United States Marine Corps retired and wife, Mayra, of Orlando, Will Wiggins III and his wife, Rosemarie, of Junction City, Kan., and Donavin Wiggins of New Smyrna Beach; three daughters, Linda Cooper of Whitehall, Mich., Lorraine Hill and her husband, David, of Amarillo, Texas, and Wendy Wiggins of Port Orange; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held Feb. 28 at the Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach chapel, with the Rev. Leonard O'Donnell officiating. Interment followed in Sea Pines Memorial Gardens.
