Mary Louise Hubbard Sills

A service to celebrate the life of Mary Louise “Lou” Hubbard Sills, 71, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at Gilead Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, NC, with private interment in the church cemetery.

Rev. Richard “Dickie” Knight of Lexington UMC, Lexington, SC, and Rev. Woody Alexander, retired, of Huntersville, will be officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 28, 2006, from 4-6 p.m. at Raymer Funeral Home in Huntersville. Born December 14, 1935, to James Oscar and Mary Grier Hubbard, Lou lost her long battle with cancer November 23, 2006, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Lou was predeceased by her loving husband, Bill Sills; brothers, Henry and Bob Hubbard; sisters-in-law, Peggy and Violet Hubbard.

Surviving are daughters, Cathey Sills-Lewis of Lexington, SC, and Donna Sills of Denver, NC; son, Michael Sills of Portland, OR; siblings, Ben, Thomas and Joe Hubbard; sisters-in-law, Frankie, Margaret and Faye Hubbard; sons-in-law, Craig Lewis and Terry Shutter; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Sills; grandchildren, Matthew and Jennifer Lewis, Alexa Shutter, Connor and McKenzie Sills.

Lou, a graduate of Erskine College, worked as a secretary for the United Presbyterian Church in Lenoir, and later for the Lenoir Tax office. Lou enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, volunteered her time with Meals-on-Wheels, and lending a hand to neighbors. Lou will be missed by many and was loved by all. Lou lived her life to bring joy to others, always putting others first. She is home with our Heavenly Father.
