Pattie Mae Latta Highfill

Black Mountain - Pattie Mae Latta Highfill, 97, of Highland Farms passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the Healthcare Center.

She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Tate Latta, Sr. and the last survivor of their twelve children. A native to the Schley community near Hillsborough, North Carolina, she was a member of the Black Mountain Presbyterian Church and had made her home in Black Mountain since 1997.

Mrs. Highfill is survived by her husband of 69 years, U. Odell Highfill and their daughter Patricia Tuttle and son in law Robert Tuttle of Black Mountain; grandson The Rev. Christopher Stephen Tuttle of Greensboro, NC, wife Carrie and their daughter Ella Brooks Tuttle; granddaughter Sarah Brooks Tuttle, of Phoenix, AZ, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Milton Arrowood Latta

Milton A. Latta, 93, was reunited in heaven with his loving wife, Georgia T. Latta, on Thursday, September 25, 2003.

He is now embracing all those who have gone on before him, his parents, Samuel T. and Pattie Woods Latta; sisters, Lula L. McKee, Sarah Latta, and Annie L. Walker; brothers, John, Sam, Harold, Edmund, Allan, David, Vance and Baxter. We can imagine him in heaven, shaking hands with all of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family, sister, Pat Highfill and husband, O'Dell of Black Mountain; two sisters-in-law, Mary Latta (Vance) of Burlington and Vitus Latta (Baxter) of Charlotte. He was a wonderful, loving father to Bill Latta (Barbara), Tate Latta (Libbi) and Patsy Latta Kelly (Steve).

Papa's grandchildren were the joy of his life, Jay Kelly (Hope), Dawn Sikes (Chet), Dudley Latta, Joey Latta (Amy), Dan Kelly (Keely), Misti Latta Satterfield (Trent), Dustin Latta, Brett Latta and David Latta. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Latta. His days were brighter when his great-grandchildren were near, Adam and Jordan Kelly, Kyle, Morgan and Erin Sikes, Kentcie and Noan Kelly, Christian, Asa and Kobe Latta, London, Keaton, Jettson, and Ellason Satterfield.

Elizabeth Louise Latta

Elizabeth Louise Latta (Lisa), 30, of Club Pond Road, Henderson, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on March 13, 2003.

Lisa was a native of Hillsborough, NC. She was a 1990 graduate of Orange High School. While living in Hillsborough, she attended Little River Presbyterian Church.

Lisa was employed as a CAN at Senior Citizen Center in Henderson. She was a loving, generous, and kind person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Georgia Latta, and grandfather Milton Dunnagan.

Surviving is her father William D. Latta, Sr.; her mother Barbara D. Latta; brothers Dudley Latta and David Latta of Hillsborough; grandmother Alice Dunnagan of Durham; and grandfather Milton Latta of Hillsborough.
